(Thought’s from the Artist) I always enjoyed Prince’s music when I was a kid. I thought some of the stuff he did in music was genius. When he died, I wanted to paint a tribute to him. He had this huge hair in the ’80s which looked like a bunch of irises and made his body too small, which is why I have placed the small vase to contain them. In addition, the lace curtain reflects some of the styling choices he made back then.
