(Thought's from the Artist) This painting is about our need as humans for pollinators. This year I used a paintbrush to pollinate the apple trees for a few days, until that wonderful day when the bees showed up and did a much better job than I ever could. I wanted to make a tribute to them for their free labor that we are all so dependent on. Many of my neighbors farm dandelions in their yards, so I visited them to get some of these flowers. Dandelions I have read are an important part of the food source for bees in the spring, however, they meet with a gruesome end in my yard.
